Please check your browser's patch level if using some versions of Internet Explorer IE 6.0.28. This is the 6.0 version “after Service Pack 1”.

The following problems may occur:

• The browser seems to hang – typically when opening pages

• As consequence images are not displayed, the whole page or parts of the page (images) are not displayed

• The browser is blocked for all requests to the server the hanging page was loaded from – but still is open to any other server

The problem typically shows up when working without browser cache.

Reason behind is a bug in Internet Explorer that came with Service Pack 1.The Microsoft documentation is:

In the meantime a patch Q818506 is available at Mircrosoft: please upgrade your Internet Explorer installation accordigly:

The problem does not reoccur after having installed the patch. Former solutions offered by Microsoft – proposing a registry update – are outdated.
